Jadeite

Jade is a broad term that includes both jadeite and nephrite.  Although the two look similar, their compositions are quite different.

The appearance of Jadeite can range from semi-transparent to opaque.  The most common form of jadeite used in jewellery is green, but it also comes in a wide range of beautiful colors like green, yellow, red, white, grey, brown, lavender, and black.

The appearance of Nephrite ranges from translucent to opaque, also coming in different colors.  Nephrite is more commonly used in carvings rather than jewellery.
